Storytellers Promote Positivity

30 Mar

This past Friday, I attended a fundraising event at 111 Minna for a one-year old organization called Storytellers for Good.  Founded by Emmy Award-winning reporter Cara Johnson and comprised of a team of professional journalists, photographers and writers, the non-profit organization aims to tell the stories of the individuals and groups who are making a positive impact in the world.

The event included a montage of films produced by the “Storytellers” as well as presentations from five local organizations who were vying for audience votes; the lucky (and deserving) organization with the most votes would walk away as the subject of SFG’s next film.

I was touched by all of the presentations, each three minutes in length, which included background stories, photo reels, performances and speeches by actual clients, explaining how their lives had been changed for the better, all because of the kindness of others.  It was moving, inspiring, and it made me feel fortunate to be involved with a community of giving.

Big congratulations to the winners, Project Grace!  Check out the full report here.
